Tonari no Kaibutsu-kunTonari no Kaibutsu-kun a.k.a. The Monster Seated Next to Me, is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Robico. An anime adaptation by Brain's Base began airing on October 2, 2012. The story is based on the relationship between the main characters, Shizuku Mizutani and Haru Yoshida. One day Shizuku is asked (more like bribed) to deliver some papers to a classmate who had not attended school since getting into trouble weeks ago. That classmate is Haru Yoshida, a boy who strikes terror into the hearts of the other students, but really just wants to be accepted. Have you ever known someone that doesn't seem to interact quite right. Their responses are quick, un-thought out and sometimes downright rude. You're not sure whether to get angry or ignore it. The person both annoys and confuses you. It could be that the individual has a touch of autism gently known as Asperger's Syndrome. Haru appears to be a person like that. You may have heard of the word "savant" (Demonstrates profound and prodigious capacities and/or abilities far in excess of what would be considered normal.) That would explain Haru's ability to excel in school without opening a book to study. The story becomes even more interesting when you see that Shizuku has her own social awkwardness. I love this series! It's both hilarious and endearing at the same time. Although they may have issues, all of the characters are really likeable and honest. This is one of those anime that after watching an episode, I can barely wait for the next. I believe most anime fans will agree.
