Chapter Seven: An Escape Route

“Yes?” asked Yuu plopping down on the couch. He knew Teela was gonna be mad.

“I’m disappointed on you for lying to your captain.” She started. “But I’m proud of you for being loyal. Thus there is no punishment for your actions and I must go to bed because I have a major headache.” She waved and left the relaxation room.

They all said goodnight and there was a moment of silence. This wasn’t just any silence though; it was the kind of silence that sent chills up your spine. Rio broke it.

“I don’t think I could sleep at all after that bedtime story.” He looked around and the others nodded.

“I don’t think Skai likes a lot of attention and I don’t think she liked telling us about her past.” Erts stated sitting down beside Yuu. “I never should’ve asked.”

“Hey relax buddy.” Said Rioroute while sitting down and patting Erts on the back. “Lots of kids on the GOA have had rough times too. It’s just that you and Yuu and Skai have had worse.” He smiled at Erts and Erts smiled back.

Hearing that made Yuu look away.

“Oops. Sorry Yuu.” Said Rioroute sincerely.

Seeing his sincere and relaxed face cheered Yuu up. He liked seeing happy people.

Several weeks passed. Everyone treated Skai differently and she hated it. She got so mad that when Kazuhi told her that she had lost family too, Skai yelled:

“I KNOW!!! Even though you did lose family you still have Yuu! I had nothing and nobody. I had to work for my food and clothing! Nobody ever asked me how I was or if I was sick or if I needed a hug! Where as you got taken in and had everything you ever could’ve wanted here on the GOA!” she then stormed off leaving a stunned Kazuhi in the middle of the hall. Skai later apologized.

The next day Skai was walking out of the hanger and noticed a diary on the windowsill. She checked to see who’s it was and found that it was Tune’s. She picked it up and walked towards Tune’s room. She wanted to take just a little peak but remembered it was Tune’s personal thoughts. Curiosity killed the cat and she took a look. It just so happened that she turned to a page on which Tune was confessing her love for Ernest. She flipped ahead and came to the day Ernest was killed. As she read, Skai noticed that she was crying. She wiped away the tears and closed the book.

MEANWHILE…

“Where’s my Diary! Where is it? Who has it? Gare this isn’t funny anymore!” Tune yelled desperately as she tore apart the relaxation room.

“I didn’t touch your book, Tune, I swear! And why do you always blame it on me?” Gareas asked getting irritated.

“Because you always take it!” replied Tune angrily. “WHERE IS IT?!?!?!” Tune yelled.

Just then Skai walked in the doorway. Using her telekinesis, she lifted the book off her palms and it floated over to Tune. It levitated in front of Tune then landed into Tune’s open hands. She then took the pencil out from behind Erts’s ear and opened the book to a fresh page and wrote in it. She then walked away. What she wrote read:

Found it on the windowsill outside the hanger.

“Happy now?” asked Gare still angry.

Tune hugged her diary and walked towards her room paying Gare no attention at all.

As she walked away, an idea sprouted in her head. What if she brought all the attention to someone else instead of herself? Bring all the attention to away from her. This was a great idea! But to whom? Skai asked herself. Suddenly a smile spread across Skai’s face. She knew exactly whom the attention would turn on. That is, if she did it right.
