Curriculum 19: Dawn-The Risen Angel Zero

Last Entry Goddess Data ZX:101-A3342: Crowe Revord: The last Victim attack was the most brutal so far. The Victim have evolved into a what is now a class type known as the Doubles. These are going too quickly. We should have had more time to destroy them before they were able to get to this level of Evolving. The new frames are our last hope. But without the final blue-print, they are but only a mere systems upgrade. I fear that our days have been numbered and it is only a matter of time till the destruction of Zion.

"Dammit...." said Zero walking down the halls of GOA. "I really couldn't give a hang on whether or not we over use our EX or not." Yamagi who was very silent spoke up in a loud clear voice," I don't give a crap about you or your whining, I don't really care one way or another and I'm sick of your bitchin'." There was a slight pause of silence as Zero's head hung down. He raised it up again to look straight in the face of Yamagi san and said ," You know what...screw the whole thing." Zero's pace began to become more quicker as his classmate was left standing there all alone to ponder the certain thoughts of this vile situation. "I'm not looking forward to the rest of this day, something's coming, this is just the beginning." Yamagi brush his hair out of his face and continued down the hall to the Pro-Ing docking bay.

When the two of them had reached there, all but one person was there (as of their buddy group). Rei was probably still brushing his teeth or eating (one of his more enjoyable pass times), or just plain neglected to come at all. Hiead standing in the corner approached Zero. "Enna" he said in a low melancholy voice, " How goes this .........afternoon........" Hiead paused as he extended his hand slowly to him. He turned around to look at Ikhny who smiled graciously at him as she gave him a thumbs up. Zero stared in confusion. "Were trying to work on his people skills." said Ikhni stepping forward. Zero looked into Hieads face and said, "This is a good start for you," Suddenly he extended his arm around Hieads back and patted him. "I would most appreciate it........if you, you, you......." Zero kept patting Hieads head. "CUT IT OOOOOOUT!" Zero backed off. He leaned down and whispered to Ikhni, "Still needs work." She nodded in agreement and went back to the corner. Soon, in walked the prodigal with his partner. This didn't go unnoticed by the Instructor. "Sorry........we couldn't find Keiko's hand held. " "It's too bad, demerit for the 90 cell." said Azuma pulling out his pen and holding his clip board. Rei swore under his breath and walked to the middle of the group. "You know your going to get us expelled," said Zero looking disgusted. "Tell that too my partner." replied Rei. "It wasn't my fault today." "In that case, we'll just let it slide then." Zero turned around to face the Instructor. "Ok listen up ladies, today is your first day of training for the controlled EX. Since the new frames hinder the EX more than anything, you'll have to put up with the strain it has on your body and how to control your EX during battles. Plus any usage of the EX will also mean a greater demerit. Right now it's 15 points off for the usage of EX. Now the EX penalty will be..........50." A murmur went over the crowd. Azuma cleared his throat as he began again. "Testing for operation cells (groups) will be announced now. Cell 1, and 4 will be examined today. We have a long road ahead of us and this won't be easy, the rest of you have the day off to work in study hall on the corrections of last months paper exams. Many of you will need this to up your lost demerits. If you choose not to do this, your grade will stay the same. Dismissed." "I guess we stay said Zero." "Catcha later," said Yamagi with a smart alick look on his face. "Dumb ass." he said as he walked to his Pro-Ing where Kizna was waiting for him. "Number 1 were going to deploy you and your colleague first. You'll be up against cell 4 today." Zero Turned to his partner. "Were fighting Joel Cartsa today, he placed fourth in the tests for the top candidate. His partner you already know. Yamagata Clayden. Joel's fighting style is mostly speed and attack, so watch your left side." Rei yelled back over as he sat in the cockpit of his Pro-Ing, "Just leave Yamagata to me. You worry about Clayden." Rei slumped back into his cockpit of the new frame. His stomach churned as his partner closed the hatch.

Zero: There really is no way to describe the way you feel right before a battle. It sorta differs from person to person. My main concern is, are we ready to fight this guy. His only reason for not being top candidate is a malfunction in his OS (operating system). If not for that he probably would have won. Right now, I am being deployed into space. This battle is not really critical, but if we fail, it'll still affect our grade. My experience with the Goddess a month ago was rather strange, but I haven't been in a battle since. I'm afraid of what might happen.

"Candidates, on your marks," Zero: Ok this is it..... "Get set........" "Rei, may the goddess shine victory on our rears." "I comply" said Rei. "GOOOOOOO!" Zero being in front boosted out first. His vessel being a little laggy from the armor upgrade moved slower than usual. "Damn system, I'm going to be a pilot and your not getting in my way!!!!" Zero took out his sword from the holster. "Your going down 01!!!" Joel dashed back and forth. "What the hell, he's adapted to it already!??" Zero darted back and forth trying to keep up with his opponent. "You think pulling crap like that's going to stop me." Joel thrust out his hand and made contact with Zero's vessel. A chip of metal went flying off. "Dammit! You'll pay for that!" Zero darted to the left side of his opponents vessel. Joel not noticing was left wide open. "Gotcha.......wait where did.........gwah!" Joel came down hard as he punched another time at Zero and made his mark. "Ouch....this is getting annoying!" Elsewhere, Yamagata and Rei were fighting it out hand to hand. "Just because......I'm.......Your ........Classmate doesn't mean........I'm going to go......easy on you!" yelled Yamagata. Yamagata and Rei were about the same strength wise. Rei:Use your opponents strength against him. Rei let himself go limp and quickly dashed to the side. This made Yamagata go flying off. "Damn you 90!" 'Hehehe, a little trick my gramps taught me!" Rei Chuckled and threw his fist back. His thrusters engaged to maximum. "This is just the beginning. I'm not going to let you win this one 90!" Yamagata lunged at Rei with his sword drawn. "You think your better'n me with a sword??!!!" Yamagata gulped as their swords clashed causing a small streak of light to beam from where they were. Soon chips of accelerated metal could be seen glowing as the two slashed constantly with their swords. Rei was on the defensive. This could not be going any worse for Rei and Zero than what it already was!

Yamagi stood amongst the crowd of spectators watching the battle ensue. "Damn I wish it was my turn!" said Yamagi. Rooze who was standing silently behind him spoke up and said, "Are you sure, tomorrow you'll be fighting Hiead and Tai. You know you got your tail kicked by him when you were just a regular Candidate." "Shaaaadup!" Yamagi said sarcastically. "I've gotten better." "I just got here, how's it going for Zero and Rei?" Rooze looked out the big window. "Not to good. Joel's got Zero on his toes, and Rei's in a deadlock with Yamagata. Although this is only a test, their still in real danger. Those new frames are supposed to be real sensitive to EX reactions and they hold them in so when training on the inside of GOA, the ship doesn't explode." "Man that's heavy," said Rooze.

"Heheh! Gotcha." Zero brought his vessel around to the right side then darted towards the left and then down. "Dammit how'd you see.........." Bam!!! Zero threw a punch that made it's mark on Joel's left cheek. "I scoff at your style, you speed up and then slow down to confuse your opponent into thinking your going fast and he won't know which way to get you!" "Show's what you know!" Joel attempted to sneak up behind Zero again. "Too slow." Zero did a back flip over his opponent and then slammed him again only this time Joel flew forwards.

Rei and Yamagata still going at it, kept at each other with their swords. "Take this!" "Such a cheesy line," said Rei. Yamagata flew straight up and thrust his sword blade downwards. Rei lifted his sword up horizontally and blocked the attack. " "Damn. You blocked it!" "Time for my counter attack!" Rei reached to the back of the frame and pulled out a small mech dagger. " You obviously didn't study the handbook for this thing before you started to pilot it!" Rei thrust the dagger straight upwards making contact with Yamagata's arm. His mech arm blew off and floated as Yamagata screamed out in pain! "EEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAUUUUURRRRGGGHHH!!!!!!!!!"

Back at GOA, the repairers were doing their best to keep up with the fast pace of the battle. "Line 2,3 and 6 cut. Hang in their Yamagata." "Zero stop fooling around and get your butt in gear. Finish him off quickly!!!" Kizna tapped away at her computer as she kept on adjusting the settings to better suit the battle. "Dammit!" "What is Keiko san?" "Rei's right leg is malfunctioning." "Here let me see." Kizna peeked over to Keiko's computer as it showed a system malfunction on the right leg of Rei's Pro-Ing. "It's ok, it looks like he was just hit." Over the intercom, Rei was infuriated by the problem. "DAMMIT KEIKO I CAN'T KICK WITH THIS LEG ANYMORE!" "SHUT UP I'M DOING MY BEST!!!!!!! I'll reroute the power from the extra battery to it and try and jump start it again." "Thanks.........graw!" "Oh no he's been hit again! Line 6 cut. If he keeps this up, the entire frame will malfunction. Dammit Rei watch what your doing!" "Friggin' hell..........he's getting faster!" yelled Rei. "It's only a matter of time....."

Zero lashed out with his gun firing a few warning shots at his opponent. Joel dodging it drew his dagger and fired his secondary arsenal (basically vulcan cannons, while not as strong when shot as a single round, allot of vulcan fire can be very damaging). Joel moved in closer as Zero attempted to draw his sword. He was interrupted by the sword of Joel who had quickly knocked it out of his hands. Zero countered by drawing his dagger and threw it at him. Joel dodged that one too. It was almost hopeless. Zero in a last ditch effort fired his vulcan guns wildly at his enraged opponent (Zero's gun had been lost earlier). "Hahahahahahah!" Joel laughed. "You missed. Joel moved in again for close range combat. Vvv.. vvvvvvvv.. vvvvvvvv went Zero's vulcans. They all seemed to miss. "01 I'll take your spot as number one........starting here. " Zero attempted to escape but Joel quickly caught up with him and thrust the handle of his sword down hard on Zero throwing him downwards, in an instant Joel thrust his knee upward and made contact with Zero's chest. Zero being winded backed off. "Damn....you...." Zero gasped for air. "I'll get you for that."

Rei still under fire, backed away as Yamagata fired several shots. "You can't run forever." "Just try me!!!" Rei attached the dagger to the bottom of his wrist. Rei: All I need to do is to get in close. Rei got in range of Yamagata's Energy pack. His hand curled in to a fist and with one final hit, Yamagata lost complete power. "Zero I'll be over to help in a minute!" Rei thrusted over too the enemy, but his leg still was malfunctioning. "This could be a problem!" said Rei.

Zero held his stomach as he coughed a small spat of blood in his cockpit. Zero: If I don't do something quick, he'll over power me. I've got to find a way to.........wait a minute there is! "Prepare to die," yelled Joel. Rei came in from the side and thrust his still fisted hand at Joel. His attack made it's mark sending Joel flying back. More punches were thrown, but Rei kept on making his mark. But Rei began to tire. Joel took this advantage as he grabbed Rei by the leg and snapped it in half.

"EEEEEEEUUUURRRRGGGGGGHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!." Rei screamed out for the pain. "OOOOOW THAT HURT YOU BASTARD!!!!!!!! F#$@ you you stupid F$%#@$% jerk!" "Cry all you want little man, I'm not going easy on you." Joel drew his sword again and thrust it out at him. It glowed with energy not of EX but of something else. Rei took the full brunt of this attack as it sent him back. Rei's vessel went flying back as he lost another limb off his Pro-Ing. "I have you now 90!" "Not on my watch!" It was Zero who had made a recovery. Grabbing his sword he thrust it at Joel with all his might. Joel blocked it neglecting to see Rei was faking the last endazement. Rei quickly recovered his vessel as he lunged straight at Joel with his vessel. Joel turned around and slashed his sword at Rei knocking him back. "Grah! Nothing doing....." Rei again came back but this time Zero rammed straight at Joel with the sword. A small beam of light shown as his slash made his mark on the vessel of Joel. "Damn! I'm losing balance!." "You'll pay for slicing up my Pro-Ing!" Rei took the dagger from Yamagata's fallen vessel. He thrust it forward and hit Joel in the face. A shriek of pain was heard as Joel flew back. "My eye you bloody bastard! You hit my eye!" "Tis true," said Rei sarcastically." Zero came from Joel's behind. Having impaired Joel, they both circled him once more as their final attack began. "Keiko pull my thrusters to their full." She did as so. The same for Kizna. Joel still impaired and still screaming in pain held his hands over his eyes. "Dammit.......the pain!!!!!!!" Suddenly in a flash Zero thrust forward and slashed at Joel's vessel! Rei simultaneously did the same! His final blow came after Zero's thrust of his vessel as he slashed his sword, causing Joel's right leg to break off. He screamed again and again as his vessel turned to rubble at each slash. "It ends now!" said Zero. "Same here!" replied Rei. Their hair shown bright blue as their final slash came down. "EX Breaker Wind Speed Comet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" The two simultaneously slashed one final time destroying Joel's Energy pack and the last of his limbs. Joel who had fainted from all the pain was pronounced disqualified.

"But how could this be, It's an EX but not an EX." said Kizna. "It just doesn't make sense. " "They're half way in mastering it. " Azuma walked up behind Kizna and looked at the screen. "They're almost there. as soon as they master it, the remnants of the EX used already will show. They are having an EX reaction only because it's become part of their physical being through training. So technically it's not an EX because it's physically being exerted through their current battle status. They're bodies grew stronger because they used the EX and this is a normal battle move now!" "Oh I see. Way to go Zero!!!!"

Zero walked out of the cockpit of his Pro-Ing holding his arm. "Damn it." He attempted to peace sign Rei but he couldn't hold up his arms. "Rei sat up in his cockpit as he walked out of it just as bloody and battered as Zero. " I saw her again." he said. Kizna helped Zero to the infirmary where they treated him. "What was that?" asked Kizna. "I don't know. All of a sudden my body reached it's limits. I only know what it feels like to have half my energy used." He slid his arm around his partner. "I've seen the Goddess again. But this time it was more clear than the last." Kizna blushed as she stared at her partner. "W..w.w.wwwhat do you plan to do next?" "Honestly Kizna....................I really don't know." "Zero, Zeroooooo???" Zero fell asleep. His head lowered onto Kizna's shoulder. "Oh Zero." she said as she smiled and enjoyed the moment of silence.

"More,more,more, more, more." Rei stood at the front of the lunch line. Flashback: As a reward for your outstanding work and improvement, as a GOA Tradition I will let you get as much as you want from the lunch line this after noon." said Instructor. ""Heheh! I'll always remember those words left your mouth Instructor!" Rei walked over to his seat with a big pile of food and sat down with Yamagi and Rooze. "That looks awfully ......big for you Rei." Rooze drooled at the sight of it. "Oh here Rooze, a biiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiig helping for you!" "Oh no you don't!" Wrecka walked right up behind Rooze and smacked his hand. Rei stared at Roozes partner. "Wow........." "What are you staring at?" Wrecka looking very puzzled stared back at Rei. "Your really cute you know that." SLAP!!!!!!!!!!! "Hmph come Rooze, we have stuff to do." "BBB BBBut what about my lunch!!!!!!!????? NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Wrecka walked off in the distance while dragging a very disappointed Rooze. "You had to go and do a stupid thing like that, " said Yamagi. "So what sue me! I can't help it." "Suuuuuuuuuuure. You gonna eat all of that? " "No here have some."

Camera's 3 and 6 activated to sectors V6-A" "It's so boring going on these stupid scouting missions." said Garu. "Don't be such a baby. Would you rather fight one of those damned Victims now?" replied Riuroute. "Oh no thanks. It's just so.." Garu paused to yawn. "..boring and I'm so damn tired of this. It's been so quiet round here since that last big hoard." "That only means the next battles will be even harder. So enjoy this peace and quiet." Riuroute boosted over to his companion Garu. " Hey Garu come take a look at this, quick!" Garu raced over to his partner. "What the hell is it?!" They exclaimed. "Yo Artes get an analysis of this tissue sample." There before them was a piece of Victim body. "Doesn't look like it is any fragments of a dead Victim, but to be safe I'll run a test." Artes touched it to pick it up. Suddenly a of some vision flashed through his head. "This is not.........AAAAAAAAUUUUUUURRRGHH!!!!" "Artes!!! What's wrong .......what's wrong! Wake up dammit! AAAAARTES!!!!"

"It's quiet. Too quiet." Zero peered out the window of the infirmary. Yes, he sustained that much damage from the last fight with Joel Cartsa. "Kizna...why is it so quiet. It's like the world just suddenly stopped going and it's peaceful. "I don't know, but I like it. It's too much of a burden to keep up with all this war." "I feel so strange that were not fighting. It's like a small burden has been lifted of my shoulders. I really can't say why. There's not much more we could do right now that would lead us closer to the destruction of Victim. But....." He paused and watched out the window for a while. "Why did I come to be here. Why did I feel like I am the only one fighting the Victim." "It's because." said Kizna as she walked up to him. "You are the angel of Zion, come to save us all from Victim. It's your dream to make it as a pilot. But don't worry I'll always be there for you." Kizna put both her hands on Zero's shoulders and rested her head on his back. "I'll always....be........." By this time she was sound asleep. "I love you Kizna." he whispered in her ear. "I will become a pilot. No matter what. I'll kill Victim and save Zion. After being dead for so long and not being able to help. I feel like I can now. Mother I'm going to come home, just wait."

Study hall was bustling with candidates as Tia Saro and Rei Clou were duking it out with their fencing equipment. "Damn you idiot hold still!" exclaimed Tai lunging forward with his sword. "No way. I ain't taking a blow for your enjoyment." The fight was suddenly interrupted by instructor Azuma. "Ok ladies play time is done. Candidates 90-94 please make your way to the door and be prepared for another test." "Another test." exclaimed Kluze. "Damn......" "Common guys. Let's go." said Tia. "Who died and suddenly made you the ringleader." said Rei. "Ok most of you have already had the enjoyment of going into live combat not as a securing mission for the Z-Moder." said Azuma. "But unfortunately we demerit people for doing this without taking the maneuvering test first. Namely on Candidate 90." Rei: Damnit, he noticed...... "Therefore, you will now take your test. " They walked down the halls until they came to an airlocked portion of the ship. "Woah! What the hell is that thing." exclaimed Ryu. "It's an air space tournament arena. It's a part of the ship where a little bit of outer space is a designated arena that isn't blocked out by the ship, kinda like a swimming pool." said Azuma. "You will all be tested in there. And since Rei was the first to go in the last tests. Numbers 91 and 93 will be taking flight for this one. Rei sighed a deep sigh of relief. "Ok we'll begin at 3:00. Get yourselves together." Rei: This one will be very interesting.

Hey this is Rei. You know we're about to take the maneuvering test for the first time. And I gotta tell you it's no cake walk. With Instructor throwing fake meteors at us and motion sensored lasers in an arena set out in space. It's gonna be fun to be a spectator for once instead of a participant!
