HIGHLIGHTS:
After breaking up the fight between Saitou and Kenshin, Home Minister of the Meiji Government, Mr. Okubo, gets straight to the point. "Shishio is active behind the scenes in Kyoto." he says.
Basically, Shishio has made a base in Kyoto to plot a war that splits the nation in two as revenge. Mr. Okubo is asking for Kenshin's help to eradicate Shishio. Kenshin is given a week to decide.
Elsewhere, Saito kills Akamatsu and Shibumi in the name of the Shinsegumi.
A week has passed, and Kenshin in on his way to meet up with Mr. Okubo. On his way, he witnesses the police investigating the Home Minister's assassination. Behind him, the killer's voice says, "It's in your best interests to not oppose Mr. Shishio."
Kenshin makes the choice to go to Kyoto. He says his heartfelt goodbyes to a heart broken Kaoru before departing.
This marks the end of the 1st season. Look forward to the Shishio saga!
