Picking up after first season, the energy surge in the Ocean Turtle has damaged Kirito's Fluctlight, putting him in a just barely semi-vegetative state. Fearing for Kirito's safety, due to his involvement in the demise of the Administrator, Alice takes him back to Rulid Village. When they are rejected as criminals, Alice settles into a log cabin outside of Rulid and cares for Kirito. Selka happily visits her sister often.

One particularly beautiful day, Alice is asked by the shrewd businessman, Barbossa, to cut down a tree that his men could not tackle. These men do not look favorably on Alice or Kirito, but her strength is unquestionable. Alice earns a small salary doing jobs for Barbossa when needed.

Back at the Capital, the Integrity Knights have been training an army to prepare for an invasion from the Dark Territory. Bercouli informed The Knights of the Administrator's devious plan to convert half of the Human Empire into sword-shaped weapons to defend against the Dark Territory.

Evening falls and Alice gets a surprise visit from Eldrie Synthesis 31. He pleads for her to return to the Integrity Knights. Alice refuses. After Eldrie leaves, Alice and Kirito go to bed. All of sudden, Kirito wakes up panic stricken. Alice runs outside and sees flames coming from Rulid!
