Eugeo and Kirito are now elite students of the academy.

Humbert Zizek, Second seat among the elite students, challenges Eugeo to a duel, which ends up in a draw.

A few days later, Kirito and Eugeo have a picnic with their Valets, Ronye Arabel and Tiese Shtolienen. During the picnic, Ronye and Tiese reveal that a fellow student, Frenica Szeski (who is Humbert's valet), is being abused by Humbert.

Later, Kirito and Eugeo proceed to confront Humbert and his classmate, Raios Antinous. They do not deny the accusations, but claim that they did not violate any rule.

That evening, while alone with Eugeo, Tiese expresses her despair upon someday being forced to marry a person like Humbert. Eugeo comforts her.
