Highlights:
NOTE: This episode recaps the events that took place prior to Towa's capture in episode 1 and introduces Riku.
The episode opens with Towa helping Kohaku and the Youkai Extermination Shop defeat a spider-like demon.
That evening one of the four perils, Kyuki, arrives at Kirinmaru's ship to inform him that Tokotsu has been defeated by Beniyasha and Sesshomaru's daughters. He allows her to handle the situation.
Elsewhere, the girls return to Kaede's that evening, and Towa falls asleep to the sound of Setsuna's violin. The next morning Towa is unhappy to learn that Setsuna left to slay demons without her.
Towa heads out to find Mount Musubi's butterfly. On the way, she runs into Riku. Since they find themselves lost, Towa invites Riku to a picnic lunch. Riku is so impressed with the apple he chose that he left her a katana as a way of thanks.
That katana turned out to be the original Kikujumonji. Little does Towa know, but Riku stole that katana from Ogigayatsu Hiiragi. Riku leaves just in time as Towa is taken into custody for stealing the sword.
Setsuna learns Towa is missing and sets out to find her. She is joined by Moroha not long after.
After some drawbacks/attacks, they find her at Ogigayatsu Hiiragi's with the apparition, Yotsume, who ends up escaping.
