At their round-table discussion, Eren claims he is acting on his own free will. As each Titan host is effected by memories of its previous owner, Eren asserts that Armin is being manipulated by Bertholdt's memories. Eren then reveals that Mikasa has been programmed to protect the Eldian royal family because of her Ackermann bloodline, for which he has hated her since they were children.
Eren and the Jaegerists take Armin, Mikasa and Gabi to Shiganshina District, where Eren plans to rejoin Zeke.
In the forest, Levi plans to have Zeke eaten to prevent Eren from using the Beast Titan. However, Zeke runs from the camp and screams which turns Levi's comrades into Pure Titans due to the contaminated wine they had drank. Throughout Paradis, governmental officials, Military Policemen, along with Falco, are briefly immobilized by the scream. Levi kills all the Titans and pursues Zeke who is being carried away by Titans under his control.
Levi catches up with Zeke who transforms into the Beast Titan in a desperate bid to escape, but Levi uses Thunder Spears to destroy the Beast Titan's nape and retrieve Zeke's damaged body. Floch turns the military cadets in Shiganshina to the Jaegerists' side by threatening them with imprisonment. Levi binds Zeke and immobilizes him with a Thunder Spear, planning to feed him to one of the Jaegerists.
