Welcome to the Attack on Titan, a.k.a. Shingeki no Kyogin, section of AnimeAdmirers. I've got one word that describes this series: Incredible! Based on the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, this anime has taken the World by storm. The 25 episode series was released in Japan Spring of 2013. In addition, two OAD/OVA's were released bundled with later volumes of the manga (12 and up). Two feature films are planned for Fall 2014 and then in 2015. On top of everything a live action film is planned in 2015.
For those who want to watch the episodes, you can find them legally on Crunchyroll. Again...no downloads here. Hell, Funimation would close me down in a heartbeat if I did that.
Over one hundred years ago, man was faced with annihilation. Giant humanoid creatures appeared with a taste for human blood. To protect themselves, survivors were forced to build and retreat behind huge walls.
Humans managed to live behind these walls until that fateful day when the colossal and armored titans appeared. Taller and stronger than any Titans seen before, these monsters easily burst through the wall.
With their fortress vulnerable, mankind must fight for their existence once again!
The North American release is licensed by Funimation
