Armin recounts that Eren revealed to him the true motive of the Rumbling was to ensure his friends' statuses were elevated to the saviors of humanity to the rest of the world, alongside giving them the long, fulfilling lives he wanted them to have in a world free of Titans.

Erin tells Armin that he murdered around eighty percent of the world's population before they were able to stop him, and that he doesn't want to die but was left with no other option after foreseeing all scenarios inside the Paths.

Armin assures Eren that they will carry the weight of their sins together and that he will eventually join him in hell if it exists.

In the aftermath, it's revealed that Eren also gave the rest of his friends and comrades personal messages reserved for after his death. After mourning the loss of Eren, Armin decides to take credit for killing him and Mikasa leaves to lay Eren to rest on Paradis before the rest of the survivors are able deny him a proper burial.

Three years later, the Jaegerists strengthen Paradis' military to prepare for potential future retaliation from the rest of the world, while the remaining Scouts and Warriors become the world's ambassadors for peace negotiations with Paradis.

In Shinganshina, Mikasa sits beside Eren's grave beneath the tree. Mikasa remembers how she would find Eren there napping when they were children and begins to cry, wishing to see him again. A bird flies down and wraps Mikasa's scarf around her. With her spirit enlightened, she thanks Eren..
